My President Was Black
2018
My President Was Black is a publication put together using texts from Ta-Nehisi Coates. The book contains the essay "My President Was Black" and the interviews between Coates and Obama that were crucial in writing the essay, both originally featured in The Atlantic.
Written in 2016 shortly after the election of Donald Trump, Coates explores many facets of race and politics in America. The text remains incredibly relevant and powerful, even in 2020.
